Candidate Spotlight: David Solet for Middlesex District Attorney

For our members throughout Middlesex County, we believe it is important to understand why NEPBA chose to support David Solet in this year’s election.

David Solet is a seasoned prosecutor with a proven record of delivering justice for victims and supporting law enforcement. As a longtime Middlesex County Assistant District Attorney and former leader of the Cold Case Homicide Unit (2019–2025), he has investigated and prosecuted complex cases, reopened long-unsolved homicides, and utilized modern tools like digital forensics and DNA to secure convictions. He was named 2025 Middlesex County Prosecutor of the Year.

At a time when communities face evolving challenges with violent crime, illegal guns, sexual assault, and dangerous offenders, NEPBA believes experienced, victim-focused leadership in the District Attorney’s office matters. Prosecuting serious crime requires courtroom judgment, investigative depth, and the courage to fix laws that leave victims behind and hinder public safety efforts.

Throughout his career, David has demonstrated that commitment. He has built strong partnerships with law enforcement, relentlessly pursued justice for families of homicide victims, and advocated for reforms such as a Crime Gun Unit to combat illegal firearms trafficking, closing loopholes for cold-case sexual assaults, and strengthening dangerousness laws to better protect communities. His work reflects a clear priority: putting victims and public safety first.

After meeting with David Solet and reviewing his record, NEPBA was impressed by his thoughtful approach to the issues that matter most to our members. His decades of prosecutorial experience, institutional knowledge, and dedication to collaboration with police provide the preparedness needed to lead the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office effectively.
