(Concord, NH) July 19th: On today’s date NH State Director Ron Scaccia and Legislative Director Steven Arnold met with his Excellency, Governor John Lynch in a one on one discussion over several matters of concern and interest to NEPBA Locals. Some of the issues discussed were Group Two retirement, Coalition Bargaining, New legislation concerning organizing, as well as the Status of Contract Negotiations for NEPBA State Locals. NH State Director Ron Scaccia described the session as a "Brain Storming" session from which he stated, "Governor Lynch continues to be an accessible Governor who maintains a positive and open approach to discussions that are of utmost concern to those in Law Enforcement". Legislative Director Steven Arnold stated, "It is very apparent that Governor Lynch is a strong supporter of those in Law Enforcement and has the utmost respect for the men and women who put their lives on the line every day for the citizens of NH". Two hot-button issues of great concern to NEPBA were discussed, House Bill 500 and the oversight committee, as well as the current practice of suspending Corrections Officers at the DOC without pay on mere allegations. The Governor showed great concern for both issues and was receptive to ideas put forth at the meeting. Both Scaccia and Arnold stated that they look forward to future discussions on issues that are of concern to the members of NEPBA with an Administration that remains one of the most open in NH history.
