NEW ENGLAND PBA AGREES WITH AFL-CIO PRESIDENT RICHARD TRUMKA
Dear President Trumka; As the largest all exclusive law enforcement labor union in New England and based in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, we were quite pleased to receive your pledge to work harder, smarter and faster as a result of the election results on Tuesday in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. More importantly, your "wake-up call" in which you stated, "It's not time to leave it to any political party to take care of us once we put them in office" is right on point. In fact, it coincides with my guest editorial column which will be published in the Lowell Sun Newspaper and I have enclosed a copy for you to read. As a member of the Board of Directors and a Vice President of the International Union of Police Associations, AFL-CIO, I am pleased that the AFL-CIO has finally shown the leadership and direction those of us in the labor movement have been searching for and so desperately needed. Through your leadership and your commitment we need to move the labor movement to mainstream America, which desperately needs new and better paying jobs, which in turn will produce a vibrant economy and allow health care for all who need it.
